For this Tactical Tuesday, we are gonna take a look at something many of us might not consider as a tactic but it does help.

Allies

What do I mean? Glad you ask, my curious friend. This means that you have a person, if not multiple people, that you can rely on to call you, check up on your progress and hold you accountable. Remember from a previous post when I discussed a reward system for completing progress for the week? If your said reward is too tempting to just buy and hold in the closet til we achieve said reward, We can ask a friend to hold it for us til we have actually accomplished the necessary goal.

Also you can rely on your friends for reminders, pump ups, motivational messages, and many other uses. For instance I have a friend text me at least one a day, if not every other day (weekdays mostly), and check to see if I have made the appropriate progress. It can be agitating at times but a good kick in the butt to “stop messing around and get focused back on your goal” can really go a long way.

You do have to pick your friend very accordingly. For instance, if you want someone to get you pumped by yelling at you to get off your butt to get stuff done like a drill sergeant, asking your stoner buddy who is always chill would not be the best option. If you are looking for that positive “GO GET ‘EM” ally, the previous drill sergeant example would not be the best fit for that. You can have multiple people helping for the same various reasons. Each friend bringing their own style of motivation to you.
